A word from our Associate Pastor
December 2025
Dear friends in Christ,
“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for see, I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.’” Luke 2:10-11
That is my wish, encouragement, and my most fervent prayer for you this December, that you get to experience great joy this Advent and Christmas season.
I pray that you experience joy in the home and neighborhood. I hope the smell of cookies fills your home, either baked there or gifted from a friend. Hang your stocking with care! Small decorations like your own Advent wreath and a few ornaments on the tree increase joy. Engage in traditions that make this season meaningful for you. Read from the Gospel of Luke. Borrow a favorite Christmas children’s book from the library and remember the joy it gave you. Take time to be filled with wonder at your neighbor's awesome light display. Invite people into your home if you are able and accept invitations to join others in theirs to
experience joy together. Attend neighborhood and community events that celebrate the season.
I pray that you experience the joy of giving and service. Volunteer at our first Monday Meal. Participate in any acts of giving made possible through our congregation. Bring in a calendar before December 14. Be a Christmas Angel through Programs at Trinity Lutheran Church, Northside and Glade Run, Zelienople. Be a Music Angel or Fill the Stable. If your gift is one of time, attend Greening of the Church on December 4 at 6 pm. Connect with organizations in our community too to extend the joy!
Most importantly, I pray that you experience the joy of worship. Challenge yourself to see each and every Advent candle lit, perhaps even attending a different service than you usually do if needed. Sing loudly and pray fervently. Listen with intention as the Word of God is proclaimed. Share peace with the community of Christ. Join at the Communion table where we experience “God with us” at all times. Plan your Christmas Eve around worship at 1 pm, 7 pm, or 10:30 pm worship. Perhaps you may even be in need of a worship
triple crown and spend the day in this unique joy by attending all three or more than one service. They’re all different, meaningful, unique, and joyous!
This is the time of great joy! For a Savior has been born for us!
Peace and joy,
Pastor Ellen
